CLS April 2020 Meeting
Speaker and Program
Patrick Miller speaks on “The Wonderful World of Goodeids”
About the speaker
I have only been keeping fish for about 20 years. Growing up I was always interested in playing in the water and catching fish, frogs, turtles, crayfish and anything else I could find. I was never allowed to keep fish as much as I wanted to. One year in the late 90’s I discovered some fish in what had been a seasonal stream on some property my parents had. I caught several black nose dace and some brook sticklebacks and put them in a used 29 gallon tank. It didn’t take long before I was hooked on fish keeping and started to expand my collection of tanks and fish species. It wasn’t until 2003 that I spawned my fist fish, which was a black Molly, in a small pond outside. After that I was hooked on breeding fish and have bred over 75 species of livebearers and over 150 species of aquatic animals including shrimp. I am currently in the process of rebuilding my fish room, after moving from Michigan to Tennessee and getting used to longer hotter summers. My goal is to breed 150 species of livebearers while maintaining several wild type populations of livebearers.
Donations for our Table
The primary method we use to raise funds is through sales at the GCCA Swap Meet. We need your donations of fish and other goods to help raise money for the club. Please bring your items to the swap and the earlier the better!
