Club Mission

The Chicago Livebearer Association is dedicated to advance the study freshwater livebearing fish; to provide a means for exchange of information; and to further the preservation of livebearers through both conservation of their natural habitats and an ongoing program of breeding and maintenance. We are dedicated to the advancement and/or dissemination of information related to all aspects of the biology of livebearing fish both domestic and wild types. 

Club History

The Chicago Livebearer Association was created in 2024 by Bob & Teresa Sturnfield, local area hobbyists and members of the American Livebearer Association, International Fancy Guppy Association, Greenwater Aquarist Association, Greater Chicago Cichlid Association, Chicago Aquatic Plant Association, Madison Area Aquatic Hobbyists, Guppy Association Internalional Chicago, and the Former Chicago Livebearer Society.

Notable Achievements of CLS we hope to continue

Each year, the Chicago Livebearer society hosts a Rare Livebearer Auction.

In 2019, the club donated $2500 to the American Livebearer Association's Goodeid Working Group which promotes conservation and reintroduction of species to the wild.

In 2022, the club donated $3000 and continues to support conservation as a goal of the group.
