This program focuses on South Florida, a family vacation, and the details of getting the fish back home safely. This program also talks a lot about Florida's invasive species.
Richard “Rit” Forcier has kept tropical fish since the age of 10. He was a member of the former Aqua Land Aquatic Society of Bristol, CT since 1982 and its President in 1986. He also held the title of President of the Exotic Fish Society of Hartford, CT in 1985. The two clubs merged in 2009 and formed the Greater Hartford Aquarium Society.
Rit is the co-founder and first Chairman of the Northeast Livebearer Association.
He has been a member of the American Livebearer Association for over 25 years, Elected to the ALA Board of Directors in September of 2002, and he became Vice Chairman in April of 2003. He was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors in October 2003 and was re-elected four times.
Rit was honored by Aqualand in December of 1999 with a honorary lifetime membership for his “sincere dedication and generous support.” He also is an honorary lifetime member of the Pioneer Valley Aquarium Society (MA), and 2006 Recipient of the Betty Mueller Award from the Northeast Council of Aquatic Societies for his contributions to the hobby and has published in many hobby magazines, including TFH.
Not long ago, Rit maintained 55 tanks, some of which did not contain livebearers. He now spends half the year in CT and half in Florida, where he is a Director of the Gold Coast Aquarium Society.
He has been an auctioneer for many clubs, including ALAS, PVAS, Nassau (LI) Northeast Council and the ALA. His livebearers have won Best of Show at Aqualand in 1996, and Best Goodeid at the ALA Convention in 2011, among other honors.
He’s earned the Master Breeder designation of the Northeast Council and holds Grand Master Breeder status in the ALA.

The primary way we raise money for our club is through table sales at the GCCA Swap Meet. Please bring your donation fish to our table as early as possible.
This helps us raise money for the club to present programming to you!
Please bring your BAP fish as usual, but make sure you bring a filled out BAP form with you.
