Patrick Miller presents "A hobby of livebearers and the ALA"
This talk covers Patrick's over 20 years of fish keeping experience, the livebearers he has kept and his methods for maintaining and breeding fish related to his 15+ years of involvement in the American Livebearer Association.
About the Speaker
I have been keeping fish since 2000 and joined the Grand Valley Aquarium Club in 2001, the ALA in 2007, and the NAGWG shortly after it was formed. I am a fellow of the GVAC, have been on the ALA BOD for 8 years and Chairman for 2 years.
I have always been interested in fish and just playing in the water (Michigan is good for that). I wasn’t allowed to have an aquarium as a child but I did manage an odd summer tub with native fish in it a couple of times. It wasn’t until a seasonal stream on some family property became permanent and fish moved in during the late 90’s, that I decided to set up a native tank.
After I started keeping fish, my interests quickly moved to livebearers. I have spawned over 75 species of livebearing fish and over 150 species of fish and aquatic animals. I keep fish in tubs during the summer (they deserve a vacation too) and have a small fish room of about 25 tanks, however I am looking to expand. My goal is to get to 100 species of livebearers bred.
Donations for our Table
The primary way we raise money for our club is through table sales at the GCCA Swap Meet. Please bring your donation fish to our table as early as possible.
This helps us raise money for the club to present programming to you!
Please bring your BAP fish as usual, but make sure you bring a filled out BAP form with you.
