John Sobel presents "My livebearers and how I keep them"

"My methods of keeping my livebearers healthy, happy and hopefully breeding."

I started out as a fish hobbyist when I purchased a metal frame ten gallon tank with an under gravel filter using money I earned babysitting. I kept all kinds of fish that shouldn’t have been kept together and had a great time.

Tank acquisition syndrome set in and I added a 5 gallon tank. I recall that I bred Zebra Danios in the 5 gallon which was a huge success for me. The two tank set up lasted until I left for college.

Flash forward many years and my son brought home a goldfish from a local fair. Eventually I placed the goldfish in a 29 gallon tank, which I am still using.

I joined the Chicago Livebearer Society and have been working with Livebearers ever since. I now have a basement fish room with 21 tanks where I breed livebearers and cichlids.

Donations for our Table

The primary way we raise money for our club is through table sales at the GCCA Swap Meet. Please bring your donation fish to our table as early as possible.

This helps us raise money for the club to present programming to you!

Please bring your BAP fish as usual, but make sure you bring a filled out BAP form with you.
